In A Statement On His Social Media Account, EU High Representative for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Josep Borrell emphasized that the EU will not tolerate attacks on the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) in Kosovo, and said, “The barricades should be removed by Serbian groups immediately. Tranquility must be restored. EULEX will continue to coordinate with Kosovo authorities and KFOR. “The parties should avoid escalating tensions,” he said.

NATO Spokesperson Oana Lungescu said in a statement on her social media account that NATO allies strongly condemned the attack on the EULEX patrol and said, “Such attacks are unacceptable and must be held to account. The NATO Kosovo Peacekeeping Force (KFOR) is on the alert and at full capacity to fulfill its UN mission in Kosovo. We call on all parties to stay away from provocative actions and rhetoric and to contribute to calm and stability.

On the other hand, tensions are increasing day by day in the region before the early general elections scheduled for December 18 in 4 municipalities in the north of Kosovo Serbs living in the region set up barricades yesterday evening and launched a sound bomb attack on EULEX teams patrolling the region. Fire was opened on the police officers working in the area.
