Call of Duty League: here are the new world champions

After a year of ups and downs, the 2022 season finale of the Call of Duty League ended with a spectacular victory for the LA Thieves.

The west coast champions defeated the Atlanta FaZe to take home their first world championship. The Thieves won Major IV a few weeks ago with a masterful performance they repeated at the World Cup: they haven’t lost a single game.

This is the first win for the entire roster consisting of Octane, Kenny, Envoy and Drazah. Kenny also received the CDL Postseason MVP award for his performance during the tournament. This is the second consecutive MVP title for Kenny who also won it at Major IV.

The LA Thieves were the only team in 2022 not to make any changes to the roster despite protests from the entire community and fanbase. To be fair, it must be pointed out that in the first three stages, no one gave the Thieves as favorites. They were eliminated at Major III, for example, but managed to get the team back on track in Stage IV. Whatever they found worked as Los Angeles has dominated every competition for the past month and a half.

The final was decidedly one-way until the latest maps. LA took the lead 4-0 over Atlanta who only managed to take 2 wins with water in the throat. The Thieves, however, did not get scared and taking home a Search and Destroy they won the event. Los Angeles and the rest of the CDL now await the arrival of Modern Warfare II which should bring fans and viewership back to the heyday of Call of Duty.
