GTA V is not a game for pacifists. It was discovered, in spite of himself, by a player who tried to end the story without killing anyone . An undertaking that lasted three years and ended in bankruptcy: “it is simply impossible”. It is not possible to survive on the streets of Los Santos without leaving a trail of blood behind.

DarkViperAU is the nickname of Matthew Judge, a content creator with a decent following on YouTube and Twitch. Like millions of other people, Judge is also an avid Rockstar game enthusiast. For some years now the boy has engaged in a quixotic enterprise: to finish GTA V as a perfect pacifist , completing each mission without shedding a drop of blood. An obsession that kept him busy for three long years. But in the end the resignation: “it is not possible”.

Matthew Judge has estimated that a minimum of 96 characters must be killed to complete GTA V – including cops, henchmen and main antagonists.

At worst you can try to minimize the damage. And so he did: after thousands of grueling attempts, the youtuber estimated that to finish GTA V, you need to kill a minimum of 96 characters – including cops, henchmen and main antagonists.

Since there have been video games there have also been record hunters and various types of achievements. The rules of the game are no longer enough, a large group of enthusiasts want to make the stakes even higher, subjecting themselves to challenges bordering on the masochistic. So there are those who try to finish video games in less than an hour that – on paper – would last several dozen. There are those who face the bosses blindfolded and those who try to complete Dark Soul or Elden Ring without ever taking damage. A very popular trend of this genre is that of pacifist runs which, in fact, requires you to conclude games that are violent in their nature in a Gandhian way, without killing the enemies.

The problem is that this is not always possible. It is one thing not to kill anyone in Minecraft, another thing is to do it in a game where the objectives of the missions are the same as the carnage.

Matthew Judge took three years and over 1,000 hours of gameplay to identify what – in his opinion – is the optimal solution to conclude GTA V as a pacifist: save all but 96 characters, almost mandatory to be eliminated to make progress and get to the titles of tail. Not bad: the first theories spoke of a minimum of 700 deaths. Now the ball passes to the other players who, if they want to, can try to end the game with even fewer deaths and snatch the record from Matthew Judge’s hands.
