Spike Chunsoft regrets to announce that it will not be able to release Chaos;Head Noah on Steam as originally planned due to content changes required by Steam management. Spike Chunsoft believes that these changes will prevent the game from meeting the studio’s standards.

The company extends its most sincere apologies to all fans who are looking forward to the release of the game.

At the same time, neither Valve nor Spike Chunsoft commented on the situation and did not specify what exactly they wanted to censor on Steam. Andrew Hodgson, head of localization at PQube Games, who translated other parts of the Chaos;Head franchise, expressed his opinion on this matter:

I don’t think Chaos;Head Noah contains anything that other games on Steam don’t have. It’s far from adult, even if it can be quite creepy in some scenes.

There is a definite problem with Steam’s habitual rejection of games that have an “anime” aesthetic and school setting, even games without sexual content. This is not the first game about a school that this has happened to. It’s like someone on their team sees a certain aesthetic, sees the school setting, puts two and two together prematurely, and then bans the release.

Chaos;Head Noah releases October 7th for Nintendo Switch. Then it will become clear what in this game so scared the Valve employees.
