Hybrid workers are happier and healthier

In Cisco’s survey of more than 10,000 professionals in the EMEA region, 76% of respondents said that the hybrid and remote working model has improved their lives in every sense. 69% stated that they save money while working remotely, 53% stated that this working model is good for their mental health, and 60% stated that they have the opportunity to exercise more while working remotely.

According to the Global Hybrid Employment Survey conducted by the company in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) countries, those working in the hybrid model are better off mentally, physically and financially than other workers.

The research was conducted in countries in the EMEA region with over 10 thousand employees. 76% of employees said that the hybrid and remote working model has improved their lives in every sense in general. More than 75% of them stated that their work/life balance is better, especially due to more flexible working hours. Nearly 60% of them say that they have at least 4 hours a week because the time allocated for commuting to work has decreased; 22% of the participants stated that this time was 8 hours.

These data belong to the company’s large-scale Hybrid Work Report, which examines the situation of employees financially, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Here are the details of the report: 

SOCIAL WEALTH

The pace of modern life limits the time many people spend with family and friends. In this context, 39% of the respondents said that they regained the time they could not spare for their family, friends and even animal friends at home, thanks to hybrid/remote working. 67% stated that the hybrid working model improved their family relations, and 46% stated that their friendship relations were strengthened.

FINANCIAL WEALTH

An often overlooked advantage of the hybrid work environment is the financial savings by eliminating commuting to the office. When small items such as fuel and transportation expenses, coffee or Food are calculated, a serious cost can arise. As a matter of fact, 69% of the respondents stated that they save while working remotely, and 84% stated that these savings can be sustained in the long run. About 67% of the respondents said that they would take this factor into account when considering changing jobs.

EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL WELLBEING

Our mental health affects many areas of our lives. As a matter of fact, 53% of the employees who participated in the survey think that the hybrid and remote working model is good for their mental health. More than 78% of respondents said they were happier with hybrid work, while 55% said that working remotely helped reduce their stress levels.

BODY HEALTH

60% of those surveyed stated that they are physically healthier because they can exercise more and change their eating and drinking habits while working remotely.
