Monkey pox detected in a 4-year-old boy in Germany

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced that monkeypox virus was detected in a 4-year-old child in Germany.

The Monkeypox virus , which is rapidly increasing in the world , has also spread to children in Germany. In the statement made by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it was reported that the monkeypox virus was detected in a 4-year-old girl living with 2 infected adults in the city of Pforzheim.

PCR test was taken for the diagnosis of the disease from the child who was declared as asymptomatic. It was stated that the child did not come into contact with anyone other than those living in the house.

In Germany, where the first monkeypox virus was encountered in the past 3 months, the total number of cases was announced by RKI as 2 thousand 916. Only 7 of the cases in the country are women. RKI also said, “According to the available information, close contact is necessary for the transmission of the pathogen. Most infected people do not have the disease severely.” In the past weeks, RKI announced that monkeypox virus was found in 2 young people aged 15 and 17.

DETECTED IN 5 CHILDREN IN THE USA

After The World Health Organization (WHO) declared an International Public Health Emergency (PHEIC) due to the monkeypox virus on July 23, the United States declared a public health emergency on August 4 due to the monkeypox virus epidemic. The World Health Organization has announced that very few of the cases of monkeypox are in children, and in the USA, the virus has been detected in 5 children so far.
