These six apps distributed on the Play Store hide dangerous malware

They were available on the Google marketplace, but behind these seemingly harmless apps lurked dangerous malware . A story that repeats itself all too frequently. Researchers from the SecneurX team discovered six malicious applications hidden inside the Google Play Store .
The user was persuaded to download an apparently legitimate application, but ended up – without his knowledge – downloading one of the two most dangerous malware for Android: Hydra and Joker. The two malware are among the most widespread within the Android ecosystem and continue to be periodically updated, in order to become more sophisticated and escape Google’s security checks.
The complete list of apps removed from the Play Store:
- Document Manager
- Coin track Loan – Online loan
- Cool Caller Screen
- PSD Auth Protector
- RGB Emoji Keyboard
- Camera Translator Pro
If you have them, uninstall them immediately.
The researchers then managed to trace some other malicious apps, which fortunately were blocked before they could be distributed within the Play Store. The list includes:
- Fast PDF Scanner
- Air Balloon Wallpaper
- Colorful Messenger
- Thug Photo Editor
- Anime Wallpaper
- Peace SMS
- Happy Photo Collage
- Original Messenger
- Pellet Messages
- Smart Keyboard
- Special Photo Editor
- 4K Wallpapers
Although absent from the Google marketplace, the criminals still distributed them through some unofficial channels, i.e. alternative app stores or through direct download of the APK via browser. Also in this case, the above imperative applies: applications must be removed promptly, and it is good that you take all necessary measures to secure your smartphone.
