Scrapped vehicles in the Russia-Ukraine war became the canvas of US and Ukrainian artists. The artists stated that they plan to sell the digital images of their sunflower drawings as NFT, and that the income will be used for new projects.
While the Russian- Ukrainian war was going on, vehicles pulled from a destroyed bridge in the city of Irpin by the Ukrainian army to stop the advance of Russian tanks became the canvas of US and Ukrainian artists. The artists stated that they plan to sell the digital images of the sunflower works they drew on the scrapped vehicles as NFT, and that the income will be used for new projects.
US artist Track Kelly, who pioneered the launch of the project called “Flowers of Hope,” said the owner of one of the scrapped vehicles thanked him for “turning the cars into something nicer.”
“With the idea of drawing promising flowers for the future, I understand that Ukraine cannot be destroyed, despite what the Russians are trying to do here,” said Casimir Kiendl, one of the artists.
Ukrainian artists Kelly and Olena Yanko, who took part in the project, said about the project, “There are people who do not understand us. They think we’re dancing on those who lost their lives in the war. But we want to show that life goes on and that we will defeat the enemy with paintbrushes and guns.”
City officials, who approved the study, stated that no one lost their lives in the vehicles.
