A Freight Train Carrying Ammonia derailed on the Nish-Dimitrovgrad railway line in the city of Pirot, located in southeast Serbia .

Due to the leak in the overturned wagon, 51 people were hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. Serbian state television announced that one person who was hospitalized died.

After the accident, which happened at around 17.30 local time yesterday, the authorities warned the people of the region not to leave the house.

The reduced visibility on the international highway to Bulgaria due to the leak led to numerous accidents. The police directed the vehicles on the road, which was heavily trafficked due to the Christmas holiday, to alternative routes.
