The ability to hide your online status is an extension of the ability to adjust a similar setting in the form of a “Last Accessed” status with selected contacts in your address book, and that option has been around for nearly a year, but is expanding to include your actual online business. Basically, this means that if you are actively using WhatsApp , you will soon be able to completely hide your online status. Earlier this month, evidence showed the feature would be making its way to iOS , but it looks like Android beta testers are the first to get the news.

According to the WABetaInfo , the beta version of WhatsApp 2.22.16.12 for Android gives the possibility to completely hide your online status from all or only from specific contacts, if you are subscribed to the WhatsApp beta and updated to v2.22.16.12, it is You can find the feature by going to Settings> Account> Privacy> Last Accessed and online. From here you can see a new section “Who can see when I’m online” under the status section “Who can see my last visa”. This can be changed to allow “Everyone” to see when you are online or to mimic the settings already set for “Last Accessed”.

While the control is not complete, linking to your “Last Accessed” status simplifies the process of configuring the online status for your WhatsApp contacts, however we would like to see more controls and options for groups, as they would be welcome. The privacy options within WhatsApp aren’t that abundant, so this is a neat addition that is sure to come in handy for many who want to hide their status within the messaging app.
