Registering on Telegram without using a phone number associated with your identity will become a little easier. Here’s how it works.
Telegram will very soon allow you to create accounts anonymously, without the need to sign up using your real phone number. The novelty is contained in the 9.2.0 update, which includes a very rich package of new features (and is probably also the last big update of 2022).
The creation of anonymous profiles will be possible thanks to Fragment, Telegram’s new platform dedicated to the sale and purchase of digital assets (starting from nicknames). Fragment will soon include a new section entirely dedicated to anonymous and blockchain-registered phone numbers. Basically, thanks to Fragment even an Italian user – who by law could only obtain a SIM card by giving his documents – will be able to have a ‘disposable’ telephone number, in a similar way to what is possible in some European countries (as well as in the USA).
Users can participate in the auction of already created phone numbers (some with ‘interesting’ number combinations, for example with a few numbers that repeat themselves several times) or they can buy a random one by paying the equivalent of 15 euros in TON , the cryptocurrency native to Telegram.
