The Chinese giant, Xiaomi , releases many smartphones every year and in recent times the popularity of OLED displays has significantly increased. This is slowly wiping out the use of LCD displays and most flagship smartphones are now equipped with OLED displays and even mid-range devices now use this screen. According to recent reports, Xiaomi plans to phase out the use of LCD displays , and Xiaomi group executive Zhang Yu said the Redmi Note 11T Pro could be the last phone with an LCD screen.

However, some Xiaomi fans did not welcome the news with enthusiasm, claiming that the Redmi brand should continue its pace just like last year’s model. Undoubtedly, the use of OLED displays means that every smartphone will become more expensive, moreover at present, OLED has gradually become popular in mid-to-high-end models and the Redmi Note series has also started to switch to OLED screens, like the Redmi Note 11 series, leaving less and less space for the LCD.

Lu Weibing , president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, once said that the principles of OLED and LCD screens are different, as many OLED technologies cannot be translated into LCD and the resources of the sector are moving towards OLED, so most manufacturers don’t use LCD.

On the Redmi Note 11T Pro, Redmi has specially customized an LCD screen. This LCD display has achieved DisplayMate A + certification, and is the industry’s first high refresh rate LCD display to achieve DisplayMate A + certification. It is the best LCD display in history, however from the words of Zhang Yu it is clear that the later models of the Redmi Note series may not continue to use LCD screens.
