From now on, with the update available in YouTube’s mobile app, it will be possible to easily select a part of any video that the video creator has uploaded before, and then that clip can be published as YouTube Shorts content.
In fact, the company was automatically converting vertical videos that users uploaded under 60 seconds into Shorts videos, even if the content was originally uploaded as a standard YouTube video. It looks like YouTube will have more Shorts videos with the release of this tool, which allows creators to take cutscenes from their longer videos.
YouTube Shorts chief Vadim Lavrusik says they want to enable creators to easily take moments from their videos and easily translate them into engaging Shorts for their audience. Lavrusik says all creators have to do to use this feature is to go to their channel and click “Edit into a Short”.
This new feature will begin rolling out today and will reach all mobile users in the next few weeks. The tool in question will only be available on iOS and Android devices and the YouTube app. In other words, those who want to edit on the web will not encounter this feature.
